Bonham's Premier Spring Event — Now in Its 13th Year
Heritage Day has been drawing people to downtown Bonham for more than a decade. It's the city's largest annual spring event, centered on the restored Fannin County Courthouse and the surrounding historic square. The 2026 edition falls on Saturday, May 2 — a full day starting at 10 AM with no admission charge at the gate.
The festival is organized by the Bonham Area Chamber of Commerce and spans multiple blocks of downtown. Unlike a simple concert event, Heritage Day covers a wide enough range of activities that different visitors can have completely different days — a runner does the 5K in the morning, families take the courthouse tour and let kids loose in the bounce house village, car enthusiasts spend the afternoon at the car show, and everyone ends up back at the square for live music and food trucks by evening.
What to Expect
Festival Activities & Highlights
Heritage Day consistently includes a broad mix of programming. Based on the event's established format, here's what to plan around for 2026:
Live Music
Multiple sets throughout the day on the downtown square. Past years have featured Texas country and regional artists. Headliner TBA — check bonhamchamber.com closer to May.
Food Trucks & Vendors
Local food trucks and artisan vendors line the square. Plan to grab lunch and browse — most vendors are cash-friendly but cards are increasingly accepted.
Car Show
Classic, custom, and vintage vehicles on display in the downtown area. Registration typically opens at 8 AM before the main festival gates. Trophies awarded.
5K Run
A community 5K through downtown Bonham. Start time TBD — check the Bonham Visitor Center for 2026 registration details and exact time.
Courthouse Tours
Self-guided tours of the 1888 Fannin County Courthouse — one of the most intact historic courthouses in North Texas. Guided options may also be available.
Kids Zone
Bounce House Village, face painting, and kids activities through the day. Good anchor for families with young children while adults browse vendors and music.
Cornhole Tournament
Open cornhole competition on the square. Team registration details announced through the Bonham Chamber closer to the event date.
Beer & Wine Garden
Adults 21+ with valid ID. No outside alcohol permitted. A good spot to settle in for live music with food truck food. Positioned on the square near the main stage area.
